However, it typically refers to bags made from polyethylene. Polyethylene is one of the most used plastics in manufacturing and serves as a reliable and affordable material for bag creation. HDPE Poly Bags
High-density polyethylene serves as the most linear ethylene polymer used to make bags. This makes it the strongest and densest version of polyethylene for bag making. Its strength allows for a thinner/less expensive that can still hold the weight. HDPE is typically used for grocery bags and bathroom trash can liners. HDPE does have a tendency to rip when snagged.
A low-density polyethylene bag has a loose molecular structure, in contrast to HDPE. Low-density polyethylene (LPDE) bags have a looser molecular structure than HDPE bags. Bags made from LPDE are more flexible and have greater clarity. These bags are much less susceptible to ripping.
LLDPE Poly Bags
Slightly denser compared to LPDE bags, linear low-density polyethylene features a more linear structure during creation. That makes these bags more durable and with higher tensile strength. Commonly, produce bags in grocery stores use LLPDE materials. In these instances, the thinner material leads to lower material costs while still offering sufficient strength. Also, LLPDE bags also have less clarity compared to other bags.
Made from polymerized propylene, polypropylene bags are in their own category. Typically, it serves as the second-most used type of bag behind polyethylene. It features a clear appearance and high tensile strength. This makes it perfect for food packaging and electronics manufacturing. In addition, bags made from these materials help to keep items free from contaminants. Polypropylene is much like cellophane and commonly used in baking and gift applications. Its moisture-blocking properties are excellent for food preservation.
